Brush Hog

What is it?

A brush hog is a type of rotary mower, normally attached to the back of a tractor and driven with the power take off. This attachment is capable of cutting through weeds, tall grass and brush, all within a 5’-7’ cut in rough area. The blades are not strictly attached, therefore if the mower hits a rock, the blades will jump up briefly and retract back down. The brush hog blades are dull and thick, so they can cut through dense vegetation.

Applications

Field Mowing Services uses a Brush Hog for mowing large areas with over grown grass, brush, weeds, and limited obstacles. Brush hogs work great in overgrown areas where there are no stumps, trees, or heavy vegetation deeply rooted in the ground. We use the brush hog for services such as Retention Pond Mowing, Commercial or Industrial Mowing, Pasture or Farm Mowing, and Overgrown Area mowing.

Bat Wing Brush Hog

What is it?

A bat wing brush hog is similar to the brush hog attachment; where a rotary mower attachment is placed on the back of a tractor and is driven with the power take off. A bat wing brush hog is able to cut through weeds, tall grass and brush, all within a 15’ cut in rough area. This equipment can cut through the same vegetation as the brush hog, all while covering a wider surface area. Similarly, it is important to note that the Bat Wing Brush Hog is able to cut vegetation and roll over rock and stone, but it is best to have the land clear of stumps, trees or any deeply rooted vegetation.

Applications

Field Mowing Services uses a Bat Wing Brush Hog for mowing large areas with over grown grass, brush, weeds, and limited obstacles. Bat Wing Brush Hogs work well in overgrown areas where it would be efficient to use a larger rotary attachment and cover more surface area at a given time. We use the Bat Wing Brush Hog for services such as Retention Pond Mowing, Commercial or Industrial Mowing, Pasture or Farm Mowing, and Overgrown Area mowing.

Flail Mower

What is it?

A Flail Mower is a rotary attachment which can cut heavier grass than an average or normal lawn mower would be unable to do. This type of equipment contains a horizontal rotating drum, parallel to the rotary, which has flails attached to it. The flails are attached in a staggered setting, so that there is a complete and clean cut to the vegetation below. It is able to cut an area 7’ and slice through vines and thicker brush. Similar to the brush hog, or bat wing brush hog, if and when the Flail mower were to go over a rock or stone the attachment would simply bounce over it instead of spitting the object out the back.

Applications

Field Mowing Services uses the Flail Mower for areas where a standard lawn mower would not be powerful enough to get the job done. This type of equipment can be used to cut thicker items like vines and brush, which makes it commonly used to mow Retention ponds, Commercial or Industrial lawns, and Pasture or Farm fields. With the linear design of the equipment, it is great for areas which are sensitive to objects being spit out the back of the machine.

Sickle Bar

What is it?

A sickle bar is relatively small, lightweight rotary attachment, which horizontally sticks out to one side of the mower. They are specifically nimble when you need to mow a 10’ cut, odd terrain, ditch banks, or angles above and below their initial level. The mower itself moves blades back and forth between fixed guard fingers. The action shears off grass that comes between the fixed fingers. A Sickle Bar requires very little horse power, is light in weight, has angling capabilities, and with less motion they provide less dust and debris being shot from the mower.

Applications

Field Mowing Services uses the Sickle Bar in scenarios where the grass is high, or terrain is not generally flat. Sickle bars can even be turned vertical to sheer shrubs or bushes. This type of attachment is also great at cutting hay. In most cases, other equipment is used before the Sickle Bar is brought in; to clean up edges, or to mow in areas that were unable to be reached such as ditch banks. We use the Sickle Bar to mow Retention Ponds, Large Commercial and Industrial Lawns, Pastures or Farms, and Overgrown Areas.

Rotary Side Boom Mower

What is it?

Rotary Side Boom Mower is designed for all the hard to reach areas, such as tightly angled slopes or the edge of a Retention Pond. The Rotary Side Boom Mower is built for tractors with a higher horse power which normally can cut a 2-3 inch in diameter brush and trees. This type of equipment is useful in situations where the mower itself would be to large or heavy to angle itself on a slope or edge of a road or pond.

Applications

The rotary side boom mower is used by Field Mowing Services for steep bank mowing. This equipment can be used in a large field or on the edge of a retention or detention pond. It is maneuverable and efficient in cutting grass on high incline banks.

Ventrac

What is it?

The Ventrac is a compact tractor that offers various different advantages. The Ventrac has hydrostatic, all-wheel drive and slope mowing up to 30 degrees in any direction, which makes it unparallel to other equipment. This tractor can handle a range of work including: finish mowing up to 3 to 4 inches, high grass, steep hills or slopes, golf course maintenance, and snow plowing. Safe and maneuverable, Field Mowing Services uses The Ventrac to get the job done in a professional and efficient manner.

Applications

Field Mowing Services uses The Ventrac to mow large fields or to detail industrial lawns- specifically the steep banks of Retention and Detention Ponds. Field Mowing Services also uses The Ventrac for snow removal or snow plowing. The Ventrac is truly a capable and versatile piece of equipment.
